What is hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is a complete antenatal education programme that focuses on childbirth as a normal, natural and healthy process. It teaches you how to relax, breathe and trust your body to know what to do instinctively. You will learn everything you need to remain calm and in control throughout labour, to make informed decisions, and to birth your baby more comfortably and easily by breaking the fear-tension-pain cycle. This relaxing method of birthing without stress or fear allows babies to enter the world in an atmosphere of calm and joy.
Why choose BirthCalm?
Dr Emma Tregenna is a highly qualified and very experienced hypnobirthing practitioner. She has been teaching hypnobirthing classes since 2009, having successfully used the techniques for the births of her own 3 children. Prior to that she worked as a Doctor at the West Suffolk Hospital.
Emma says, " My own observations as a medical student showed me how calm and peaceful childbirth can be when not accompanied by fear, so when I came to have my own babies I knew that I wanted to use hypnobirthing for my own labours. Although my oldest son (now 5yrs) was born by Caesarean because he was in a breech position, the methods I had learnt for deep relaxation were still extremely useful. When my daughter was born 15 months later I finally achieved the hypnobirth I really wanted- a natural homebirth with no pain-relief, and it was a lovely, calm, joyful occasion."
Emma teaches the Wise Hippo birthing programme, a new up-to-date course specific to the UK. As well as providing you with all the breathing and relaxation techniques you would expect from a hypnobirthing course, this programme focuses on empowering women to take control of their birthing experience by finding out what choices are available and having the confidence to make informed decisions. This ensures that you will have a positive birthing experience that is right for you, no matter what course your birthing takes.
Group courses for 4-8 couples are run over 2 Saturdays, a fortnight apart, giving plenty of time to get to know each other and build a support network, over lunch at a local pub. They are held in a comfortable environment in the centrally-placed village of Willingham, giving you time to relax, focus on your pregnancy and birth, and enjoy time together before your new baby arrives.
My next available course is from 10.30am - 4.30pm on:
1st and 15th February 2014
I also offer private courses in your own home on weekday evenings.
